He’s sitting behind the desk in his office, which is just down the road from the Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood Airport. The shelves are lined with toys and View-Masters — the plastic gadgets that let you look at pictures in 3-D. Abovitz, 44, is a bear of a guy with a kind smile, and when I meet him he’s dressed in black Nikes, a long-sleeved shirt, and slacks, his graying curly hair topped with a yarmulke. He’s thoughtful and composed, which I find somewhat surprising given that the only time I had seen him before was in a video of his talk at a TEDx event in 2012 in Sarasota, Florida. It featured two people dressed as furry creatures called “Shaggles,” Abovitz walking on stage dressed as an astronaut, and unintelligible rock music. Though the talk, called “The Synthesis of Imagination,” came off as performance art (perhaps even a mockery of a TED talk), he swears there is a coherent message embedded in it; figure it out, he says, and he’ll give you a yo-yo.”
The following is based deeply on both the above Tweet and the meaning that my friends and I found hidden and buried within the story of the TEDx Un-Talk of December 12th, 2012.
I actually think it relates to the TEDx more than some realize so here goes a shot at decoding or maybe just adding needless meaning to the Tweet above in an attempt to materialize Rony Abovitz’s coherent message embedded in his TEDx Talk video from 2012.
“I have created the ultimate “contract” or “agreement”. A set of rules, guide rails, and principles to live by.
I have made a set of commandments with which to live by commandments if you will. A form of constitution for reality, and daily goodness.
But at the same time, a sort-of Warren Robbinett’s easter egg, collectible, if you will, one that has the mind, body, soul, and the notion of “experience” at its core. It is called “The Synthesis of Imagination”, however sometimes I refer to it as “The Moment it All Came To Be” as well as, “The Big Bang!” Albeit infrequently. Or sometimes just… “Creation”, and even “God”, on occasion.
Since, I am to be looked at from outsider’s perspective, viewing “The Synthesis of Imagination” from an almost Alien or Godly perspective — The outsider-looking-in. Something akin to an Alice Through The Looking Glass type experience, then it can be surmised that there must be someone watching from a greater dimension. (4 > 3… etc.) If this is true, then It can be supposed that “The Synthesis of Imagination” is a form of ‘Ultimate Reverse Reality Check’. Of sorts. Except this one is bringing fantasies. Not stopping them. And we’re looking out. Hence Reverse.
I say this because Imagine viewing “The Synthesis of Imagination” from the outside looking in from a Godly perspective. That’s the one thing I can do — Only because it was filmed both in front of the slides, and the stage.
Just as a contract is to an NFT or something of that nature, maybe some might even say, “agreement”, is an accurate supposition; An easter egg, is to the unexpected or the undocumented.
I call it (“The Synthesis of Imagination”) those names, “creation” “God” and “The Big Bang!”, and perhaps even if one wants to get super ‘metaphorical’ we one could say “experience” could be one such other name for ”The Synthesis of Imagination” simply because it is essentially an invaluable and considerably priceless artifact of the (birth of the) universe and even mirror world (dream & vision).
Something that spills our dreams out of our heads, something sort of like a canvas we can etch things onto or something that extends or spills the paint out of our heads onto such a canvas that we can almost sort of enter. And visit if we want to in the physical, digital, and dream realms combined. And in doing so make those things “real”.
What is real anyway? Morpheus tells us that If real is what you can feel, smell, taste and see, then ‘real’ is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain.
But it (“The Synthesis of Imagination”) isn’t visibly detectable by the human eye-brain system, without any unnatural aid. Does that mean *it* isn’t real? When in reality, it is something that we as humans have been calling “digital” or non-physical in “real” space. Whatever that means. “Real”.
You can find it in cyberspace or in something called “The Metaverse”. You can find this digital birth, there… We brought it there.
It (The Synthesis of Imagination) isn’t there in “physical space”, without the additive support of our equipment, and is not a part of our reality, it is “No-Thing” (it is nothing) and Ever-y-thing (it is everything), and spreads to everywhere, simultaneously. Perhaps even everwhen. All possibilities. It is born with digility and possible everyall.
We, Homo Sapiens, in this sense are essentially finding a way to ‘talk to God’.
Yet none so vague and broad as the universe, in which they reside. A real representation of all of them at once. That is “The Synthesis Of Imagination.” Where everything and everything’s digital counterpart (or twin) resides in a mirror world and strange loops — things that can only exist on the lens which reflects light back into your retina, will exist in that mirror world, thus enhancing our percieved reality.
But In order to ‘buy into’… in order to believe this… in order attempt to comprehend “The Synthesis of Imagination” which will be the rarest of “Life-Contracts”, your LifeStream, which is one of The Four North Stars Of Spatial Computing, and in doing so, it induces your understanding on the level that it will be the only contract like itself, in your regard — to whom only ‘you’ may understand the way ‘you’ do. It is representative of yourself. You may have to dig deep.
Some secrets are buried deep. The deeper you dig the hotter it gets. In digging deep, and there is only your understanding and it is highly interpretable. More is possible in a world of augmented reality and much like art, due to its (“The Synthesis of Imagination’s”) complete lack of existence, in reality, it is only an Ultimately-rare contract/hyperlink/gateway of the highest caliber to data that matches your (environmental) personhood, (a legal concept which designates certain environmental entities the status of a legal person) and Meta-knowledge of that varying degree.
Meta-knowledge which describes one’s own ability to percieve that looking glass and those that are using it on us. What IS outside the 3rd dimension?
It stems from within you, and it (“The Synthesis of Imagination”) and is the gateway to “more”, an audio-visual sensory blitz of our primordial history, humanities ascension to the heights of technilogical prowess and the answer to everything, while simultaneously connecting you to a way to help you fullfil your dreams. The LifeStream, and the rest of The Four North Stars of Spatial Computing”
It is the answer. It is your guiding sunshine. “The Synthesis of Imagination” and is your determination. It is the will to seek out what possibilities lie ahead, and at the same time it is the connection you make with them. It is the glue that binds us together. It is that stuff in between everything else. It is passion of moving forward and the connection we form with nature. And… it is everything else. Both digitally and physically.”
